I have just spent most of the day fooling around with my plug ins. This is absolutely addicting!! Laughing Out Loud I have tried and discarded many plus there are ones that I’ve yet to fully test the functionality. Though I am sure my listings of what plugs rock versus which are the pits as I use them more, I am going to give you all a list of seven plug ins that I think are pretty awesome.

  1. Broken Link Checker I don’t know how anyone could have an active blog and keep the links up to date without this tool. I highly recommend this
  2. Google XML Site Map Generator – This will map your entire site if you have your blog in a subdirectory. All one has to do is enter all the page URLs. A bit time consuming, but worth it in my opinion. It also notifies the major sites when there is a change in your blog!
  3. Analyticator- The Word Press plug in the automatically places the code needed for Google Analytics in the appropriate place in all one’s pages, etc. Not fully tested this as I have just signed up for the service, but I am looking forward to seeing what it has to say.
  4. Featured Posts List - This will let you set your Featured Posts Easily and put them on your site in various ways, including having photos. I used a side bar widget PHP Code to add the code to my sidebar. You will find all the codes on Featured Post site
  5. My Category Order- I despise the order my categories are shown in, and this plug in fixes that. Its drag and drop interface is awesome. I Highly Recommend this!
  6. Word Press Announcement- I wanted to add an annoucement to my blog that encouraged people to visit the formus on my site. This handy plug in did the trick.
  7. SMS Text Message – Another way to inform your readers about changes to your blog…Can we ever have enough? Visitors add their number and you have an area to send a text to those that have “subscribed”. Pretty simple, though I’ve not had a chance to try it out..My provider is not on the list of those supported Sad

Out of the 23 *gasp* plug ins I have active right now, those are the ones that facinate me most or that I think will be useful to the most people. Hopefully one of them will suit your needs!

*note* These only work on self hosted blogs. I remember how dissappointed I was when I found that out!
