Reading time: 3 – 5 minutes
A little bit ago I added this badge to the left side of all my pages. This website has been a god send to me since I found out BC was leaving for Kuwait.
While searching for information on how to make things work when you are so far from the one you love, I ran across this site. I kept an eye on it for a few days and grabbed the free e-book they offer.
The forums are very active, and seemed very supportive so I added myself as a member and kept lurking for a little bit. I finally posted a hello and wondered into the chat room…the rest is history as they say. I have found some very supportive, smart and caring people there. They tell me the stuff I already know and they let me just vent when I need to. Great site all the way around.
This site is the baby of a professional long distance couple who we know as Frank and Michelle. To quote from the home page:
“Hi! My name is Michelle, his name is Frank. We have been in a long distance relationship since April 2006. Frank is from Massachusetts and I am from Maine. We are 250 miles apart and see each other about every 1-2 months. Up until May 2008, Frank was going to school in New York, a whole 11 hours away from me!
Frank and I have created Loving From A Distance to help others in long distance relationships like us. Here you will find advice and tips on how to make your relationship survive the distance, a supportive community of fellow long distancers, inspiring pages including true LDR stories, as well as other resources relevant to those in “geographically challenged” relationships.
If you found this site because you have been questioning whether or not a long distance relationship can work and are looking for an answer, the answer is yes: LDRs can and do work. Frank and I are just a single example; there are many more if you just look around our site. You have come to the right spot. Just browse around our pages and the LFAD Member Community and you can bet you’ll find the inspiration you’re looking for”
And you really can find whatever you need it seems. I just need support and some distraction from my over active mind. Others post for advice, share stories… its pretty amazing I think. You can also get some gift ideas including the LFAD “Love Knows No Distance” bracelets, which come in camo for military couples and light pick or chocolate brown. There is also a growing content area for Military couples and the unique challenges they face. There is so advice and so many great ideas (including things to do that will help you hold on to that closeness) I could never cover it all here.
I do want to thank Frank, Michelle, and all the LFADers for all there help and support…without you guys I am not sure how I would hold on without going crazy!
